Jewelry Care Guide
Proper care ensures your Frida & Florence jewelry pieces remain beautiful for years to come.
JEWELRY CARE
When not wearing your jewelry
- Store pieces individually in their pouch or box to avoid rubbing, scratching, and tangling.
- Store them in a cool, dry and dark place, such as a drawer or jewelry box.
- Silver jewelry should be stored in an airtight plastic bag or box to reduce oxidation.
When wearing your jewelry
- Avoid your jewelry encountering beauty products and lotions like perfume, hairspray, makeup, sunscreen, deodorant and skin oils.
- Wear silver jewelry often to slow down oxidation.
Store your jewelry in an airtight bag or box along with a packet of desiccant crystals to reduce tarnishing.
Both gold vermeil and sterling silver jewelry are safely and easily cleaned at home.
For cleaning gold vermeil pieces, we recommend using a dry, soft fiber polishing cloth. To effectively remove any dirt or moisture, gently brush your jewelry in one direction. For a deeper clean on either gold vermeil or sterling silver, you can use a soft toothbrush with a mild solution of washing-up liquid heavily diluted with water. Always remember to rinse your jewelry with clean water afterward and ensure it is pat dry thoroughly with a soft cloth before storing or wearing.
We strongly recommend staying away from the harsh chemicals found in jewelry dips, abrasive jewelry cleaners, and intense jewelry polishing cloths. Using these harsh products can degrade the condition of your jewelry over time and eventually destroy the finish.
Yes, we strongly recommend removing your jewelry to avoid contact with water and retain the shine and luster of our gold and sterling silver pieces.
Salt water and even fresh water contain minerals that can damage precious metals. The chlorine found in swimming pools is particularly aggressive and can lead to permanent discoloration of both gold and sterling silver. Furthermore, soapy water can leave a thin, dull film on your pieces, causing them to appear faded. For these reasons, we advise removing all jewelry, including rings, when washing or swimming.
RING SIZING
Measure Your Finger: Wrap a piece of string around the base of the finger you intend to wear the ring on. Mark the exact spot where the two ends meet.
Determine Length: Measure the length of the string with a ruler.
Find Your Size: Compare this measurement with our size guide below to find your nearest ring size.
Tip: If your measurement falls in between two sizes, we always recommend going with the larger size.
If you are unable to find your ring size with this method, many local jewelry shops will be happy to measure your finger for free. You can also download and print the ring size guide here for an alternative sizing tool.
