Kimiya Collection
Seven themes, eleven pieces.
The collection features eleven numbered edition pieces based on seven themes, informed by Sara’s early experiences surviving war, cancer, and impeding persecution – and then growing up in the UK. The collection embodies freedom, transformation, and justice to promote the expression of our true selves without fear of persecution, oppression, or judgement.

Courage is more important than confidence. Inspired by the courage of her parents to leave everything to save their family, Sara’s never surrendered to oppressive forces. Shehamat recognises the courage of people everywhere to be themselves despite the threat of judgement and persecution.

Each of us can feel moments of immortality when we beat the odds to overcome great challenges. Overcoming numerous challenges in early life, these small miracles made Sara feel protected, immortal – and Javedaneh is a reminder of our potential to create miracles.

Drawing on her rich heritage, Pishiniaan evokes the exquisite beauty of ancient Persia, 300 BC. Inspired by the ancestors, using gold, lapis and turquoise, Pishiniaan embodies our lineage, and how by reaching back to our roots we gain a sense of grounding.

Displacement creates duality: Dogaanegi combines the Persian cultural heritage Sara holds on to, with the cosmopolitan western culture she grew up in – and all the values it represents. For Sara, Dogaanegi represents the freedom to be herself coupled with the feeling of being outside.

As an artist, Sara assumes the role of reflecting the world around her, asking questions about justice and spiritual reflection that require her whole self. Andisheh is inspired by the entirety of our being and the different internal and external spaces we occupy throughout our lives.

Equality does not mean justice when we all start with a different set of circumstances. Edaalat remind us of the uncertainty and tragedy many people around the world live with: Sara’s own story of surviving war and impending persecution and the many affected by the refugee crisis.

Miraas represents the driving force pushing us to make our mark. Creation comes in many forms, whether that creation is tangible or intangible. Our legacy can be the things we create like art or invention. Equally the roles we assume in life and the lives we touch can be our legacy.
